Hi, my name is Alison and I’m a size 16. (in case you wanted to know) I wanted to share some fun date night ideas for Valentine’s Day depending on what your plans are! I put together a few looks this year, but I wanted to share two looks. One for a first day or a going out look and one for staying in for more casual vibes! I’ve got a few more looks to share so be on the lookout for those! For more Valentine’s Day related posts, check out the event tab here!
Up first was a simple going-out look with this dress by Alight. Alight is a plus size clothing website with a great selection no matter what your personal fashion style is. They carry classic pieces, edgy or even unique boho pieces like this Wine Bell Sleeve Dress. This dress retails for $42 and is really true to size. I wear a size 16 and am wearing a 1x. I can generally fit into a 1x or 2x unless there is no give in the bust or shoulders. This knit dress had the right amount of fitted areas and loose fitting areas like the ends of the sleeves and the slight flare of the skirt. I paired these with some taupe wedge booties I found on Amazon last year. (Linked here if you’re interested.)
In case the night out gets chilly, I also paired this dress with this oversized jacket by Tobi. Tobi is an online boutique that carries traditional S, M, L sizing but I’ve had luck with their knits and oversized outter wear. They have some awesome pieces that are super on trend. You can also get 50% off your entire first order by linking your Facebook page which I think is an awesome deal! This jacket Nava Camel Faux Suede Jacket is on sale for $47 and is the softest article of clothing I own! I’m obsessed and I’ve been pairing it with anything any everything! I think this adds just the right amount of cozy to a Valentine’s Day look!
With this dress, I kept everything looking smooth and shapely (in the best way) with this waist trainer by Diva Fit. Ordering this was super easy. I measured my natural waist to determine I needed an XL and choose this nude color so it would work well under light and darker colored items. This is great to have on hand for events where you’ll be taking a lot of full body photos like weddings or parties and it helped keep this knit dress from hugging my curves in the wrong places!
For a night in, I went a little edgier, but still super cute! I paired the same shoes with these super comfortable SlimSation ankle length pants in white. SlimSation pants are ultra slimming and come in a wrinkle resistant, comfortable fabric. I own another pair of white pants and I don’t find them to be flattering at all! Despite that failure of a purchase, I still wanted to wear the trend. These pants are not only comfortable and tummy controlling, the material (though it took some getting used to the feel of these) is flattering and doesn’t show any lumps or bumps you’re not wanting seen! I had to pair these with this adorable “My Husband Rocks” tee by Union28.
This tee is super soft and I love the message behind Union28. They really want to celebrate marriage and offer apparel to help you do that! They have cute tops for men and women helping to promote strong, positive image of what marriage should really be about. I also get a kick out of the husbands reaction when I wear this shirt.
The stitching detail on this shirt is really great. It’s cut a little like a raglan tee but with deeper dips on the sides. I think this flowy tee is the perfect top for a night in with your husband! (They have other designs for men, too so I think these would make great gifts!)
I hope these looks gave you some great ideas if you’re stressing about what to wear for Valentine’s Day! Be sure and check out these brands if you’re in the market for some new styles to add to your closet!
