Morgan Taylor Summer 2017 Selfie Collection

Since summer is in full swing, I thought it would be fun to look at the summer polishes from one of my hands down, absolute favorite polish brands. Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer has been one of my go to formulas for a few years now! They have amazing, on trend collections and some of my favorite glitter polishes of all time! They launched this 6 shade Selfie Collection just in time for the hot weather!

For all of my swatches today, I started with one coat of Maxus Nails Base Coat, applied two coats of the color and finished with a layer of Seche Vite. While most people are familiar with the Seche Vite top coat, I did want to give a shout out to Maxus nails. I’ve been using their base coat for about a month and I really love it. Their formulas are 5 free and their base coat has both amino acids and tea tree oil. This base coat has done an AMAZING job at keeping my long nails from staining and I have had less breaks since I started using it. I think this is a great base coat!

I like to go from lightest to darkest so first up is the shade “All About the Pout”. This creamy hot peach color is an amazing cross between a bright neon and a soft pastel. It reminds me a little of China Glaze’s classic “Flip Flop Fantasy”, but I prefer this shade (it’s a little brighter) and the formula doesn’t have the chalky dry down that you see in most neons.

There are two “medium” bright pinks in this collection and the more orange based one is called “Me, My Self-ie, and I”. This color also lacked the chalky texture most neons do and featured a fun silver micro glitter.

The glitter added just enough depth to make this unlike any other polish I own.

The other medium pink shade is my favorite pink of the collection.

“Pretty as a Pink-ture” is a beautiful, bright neon pink. This was a quick drying, matte neon. It definitely needed a top coat in order to be glossy and long lasting, but it only needed two coats and went on without any streaks what-so-ever. If you love neons, this one is a must.

A more berry version of the last color, and moving into the darker shades: “Woke Up This Way” is a quick drying, matte neon as well and it’s the brightest berry shade in my collection.

I thought this was a really fun way to bring berry hues into summer and I thought they nailed this formulation!

While 4 of the 6 shades in this collection could be classified as “pink”, fear not! There are two shades for those who love daring colors! This one “No Filter Needed” is a stunning blue creme. I really wracked my brain trying to this of what “type” of blue I would call this and I was writing at work when I realized I own a pen in this EXACT shade.

Pilot calls the G-2 pen in this shade “turquoise” but they’ve got that one wrong. Either way, this is a classic summer vacation blue and a perfect addition to the collection.

Lastly, and probably the most interesting shade in this collection is this royal purple with fun iridescent glitter. This is  called “Best Face Forward” and this has find micro glitters that shift from blue to purple with maybe a touch of pink in there.

In spite of all the tiny glitter pieces, this one dried extremely fast like a neon as well!  The glitters are so fine that even with one coat and no top coat, you can’t feel them.

Overall, I thought this was a fun collection of brights for the summer! I adore the fun selfie, social media related named and I’m pretty sure I’ll be reaching for these a lot this season, I can feel it already!
