Ipsy October 2013

I apologize for the poor lighting, but I received my Ipsy bags this afternoon and by the time I was able to photograph, the sun was gone, but I was too excited not to share! For anyone hearing about Ipsy for the first time, its a monthly subscription that costs only $10 per month (this includes taxes and shipping in the US) and for that price, you receive 5 beauty products (full size, travel size and samples) curated by the Ipsy team delivered to your door every month! I love Ipsy so much that I get two bags each month! You can check out more HERE on their website!

DSCN0193This month’s these was “Art of Beauty”. I definitely love the theme and I thought it was a little ironic that Zoya was in every bag 😉 Since their company is called Art of Beauty. Not complaining though!! So, both of my bags were very similar and only differed by one item. Above is the contents of my first bag.

First was this Medium Eyeshadow brush from Coastal Scents. I adore the Coastal Scents brand but I’ve yet to try any of their brushes. I thought the handle of this brush was a little too light, but the bristles are soft, but firm enough to get the job done and that’s really what matters! This brush retails for $2.49

Next, I received a Starlooks lip liner in the color Tipsy….like I pointed out last time I received a Starlooks product, they ALWAYS send out products that they’ve already featured in their own Starboxes. It’s SO annoying to someone like myself who gave Starlooks a go, disliked it and now wants nothing to do with the brand. I filled out my survey last time to include that I did not want this brand anymore and yet, here this is. On top of that, I already own two of these one I got in a box and one I got in my Birthday gift (both called Tipsy and are completely different colors, I might add!) Boo on this liner. Ipsy, ditch Starlooks. please. Starlooks sells this so-so liner for $12

Next, I received a Travel Size of Style Sexy Hair’s Spray Clay. Right off the bat, this doesn’t seem like something I will love, but I’m a fan of the brand and I’ll try it for sure! This size can  retails for $8

Another full size product in my box was this Mineral Shimmer Eye Shadow from Bella Terra.

DSCN0203I received the color Navy.

DSCN0207So far, I am in love with this deep blue eyeshadow with purple shimmer. It’s creamy, easy to blend, pigmented and overall it’s just flawless! They call this an 8-in-1 because you can use it anywhere on the face and apply it wet or dry. I’m excited to play around with this one. This shadow retails for $14.99

DSCN0214Lastly, my bag also included a full size Zoya polish!

DSCN0215Not only is this full size and a STUNNING polish company, but it’s also a color from their newest Fall collection! This color is called Giovanna. I do already own this color (and love it) but it’ll make a great stocking stuffer. This polish retail for $8

DSCN0216My second bag was nearly identical, I even received the same polish and eye shadow colors (even though there were a few shades sent out) but I did get one product different instead of the lip liner (Thank Goodness!).

I happen to absolutely adore Ole Henriksen and I’ve yet to try this moisturizer. While normally I’d pass on anything that is extra dehydrating, it’s Fall and I’m bound to get a little dry here and there. If you’re looking for some great skin care, this is a band to check out! This sample retails for $6.62

Overall, both my bags were great. I’m thrilled to have received these items for only $10! Ipsy is my absolute favorite subscription box and I’m sure you can see why! My first box was worth a whopping $45.48 and my second box was worth just a little less, $40.01- but I preferred this box with the Ole Henriksen instead of the liner 🙂

I am definitely going to have to try Ipsy out someday. $10 is entirely reasonable, even if I only like half of it. That Zoya nail polish is goooooorgeous and the Coastal Scents brush should hold up pretty well to use. Plus, that eye shadow…..love it!
