Blogiversary Lesson #7: “Cheap” Vs. Affordable

Blogiversary Lesson #7: “Cheap” Vs. Affordable

In the Blogisphere, it’s hard to use the word “cheap”. To me “cheap” can mean two VERY different things. It could mean something that you paid a nominal price for. Meaning, you got it cheaply, therefor making that item cheap…OR it could mean the more slang (for lack of a better word) of that definition of that word meaning that it’s just junk. While sometimes those two meanings can go hand-in-hand, I’ve quickly learned the difference between “Cheap” and Affordable.

BHCosmetics-Logo-with-Trademark2

One of the more affordable (being cheap in terms of cost, but never quality) is BH Cosmetics. Where high quality doesn’t have to have a high price tag!  If you recall, last year we had a review and giveaway from BH Cosmetics and since using my first palette from them, I’ve been snatching up every sale, deal and discount I can to get my hands on these colorful palettes, easy to use brushes and more!

DSCN9086Most recently, I decided to try one of their brush sets. I’ve heard great things and for the price (normally $24.95 but there is always a discount, currently the price is down 28%) it’s not something you can ignore. This is the 12-pc Berry Brush Set.

DSCN9092

Just looking at this set online, there were many things that appealed to me. The color of the long handles, the berry tip of the synthetic hairs, the variety in shapes, sizes and the multitude of uses for each of these brushes, BUT it wasn’t until I received them n the mail that I realized just how stunning they actually were.

DSCN9097Each brush is flawlessly constructed and made with soft, dense hairs. Many times, I’ll find that there will be a few soft brushes in a set, but with these exception of the two brow brushes and one blunt shadow brush (which were all intended to be stiff) ALL these brushes are soft on the skin and a pleasure to use.

DSCN9095I’m a big brush fan, but I was really happy to see a long handles spoolie brush in this set. Each brush is  between 8-9″. I use a spoolie ever day and nothing is more frustrating than digging through your brushes to find your TINY 4″ spoolie to tame your unruly brows.

DSCN9093Each brush is also printed with the BHcosmetics logo. Overall, this brush set it great for beginners, as a gift and even impresses someone like me who has a vast brush collection. I think I’ll pick up a spare for work or just to have in between cleanings. I’ve been using these for about 3 weeks now and washed them 4 times (counting the initial washing) and they just get softer and easier to use.

DSCN9103BH Cosmetics is also known for their eyeshadows. If you’re a fan of the build-your-own palettes, like Stick With It or the Z Palettes, you might be aware of BH for their single shadows. With over 100 colors, you can get a single pan of eyeshadow as low as $.98 (which they are current;y selling for with a 50% special on their website). I decided to check out the 15 Color Eyeshadow Pro Palette.

DSCN9101

With this 15 Color Palette, you select your colors from their full collection and customize it to fit your needs. Everything arrived individually wrapped and in perfect condition. I decided to go both neutral and bold with my colors and got a wide range of colors.

13991_4430618333240_187804761_nOverall, I couldn’t be happier with the color selection and the overall product. These colors are pigmented, unique and extremely easy to blend.

DSCN9134

Each pan is fairly large and pressed with a bh.

DSCN9110

While these colors don’t have crazy names, each pan comes labeled with the series and a number. This makes it easy to ID should you need to repurchase your favorite colors.

72615_4430618613247_1152662047_nI’ve been using these colors non-stop so be sure and check out my Instagram for swatches, eye looks and more!

Overall, I could not be happier with both of these items. They performed better than I anticipated and I can’t wait to try more from BH Cosmetics! BH was kind enough to send these products for review, but they’re also offering the same products to one lucky reader! Enter below to win!!

Blogiversary Lesson #6: I CAN get a natural looking tan from a bottle

Blogiversary Lesson #6: I CAN get a natural looking tan from a bottle

Happy Sunday everyone! Have you missed me? I took the day off yesterday for some family time and some good ‘ol Cooperate work (did you all know I have a new part time job?! It’s pretty fun!) and after spending most of today out in the sun with family, I remembered a very exciting review and giveaway I needed to post for you all!

Naturally, I’m one of the whitest people I know. For my MAC loving friends, I wear the shade NC15 which is actually really hard to find because it’s so fair. I can tan pretty easily, but between blogging, part time work at a makeup retailer and life with my boys (the husband included) – I just do NOT have time to soak up the rays. Tanning in a tanning bed is something I’ve tried once in my life and while I liked it all right, I hated feeling like I needed to go everyday to get my money worth of tan. It’s just EXPENSIVE. A few month’s back, I entered a drawing to win a a tanning product from Beautisol. I won and I’m been hooked on their products ever since!

DSCN9150I got the chance to try out a few of their best sellers recently (and offer you all an exciting giveaway) and I have to say, It will be REALLY hard to find anything that will ever look as natural on me! I received three products: the Tea Tan Glow Body Bronzer, Medium Self-Tanning Mousse and the Self Tanning Lotion Applicator Mitt.

DSCN9152The self tanning mousse is really easy to apply (even without the handy dandy mitt) and leaves your skin with a smooth even finish. I’ve used lotions, creams and gels in the past and had on heck of a time getting an even, steak free application so when I was able to apply with mousse so easily with half the effort I was stunned. I let out an audible “Oh.” When I realized I was already done and just needed to let myself dry. There was no extra blending to be done and the colors was great! Dry time was only a minute or two and there was no lengthy wait before I could get dressed and go on with my day.

Let’s talk about the color for a second! FABULOUS. Because I’m so fair, it take nothing for a self tanner to turn me into an Oompa Loompa. Orange, Orange ORANGE. Even professional spray tans look orange on me. This tanner is the exception to the rule. This tanner looks the perfect shade of brown against my skin. I’ve seen images on this used on many skin tones including olive and even those who are naturally very tan and I think it’s fair to say these results are universal. Beauitsol just knows what TAN should look like!

DSCN9151Between tannings OR when I just need that little extra boost of glowing tan, I use the Tea Tan Glow Body Bronzer. This is different from a self tanner or sunless tanning in that it’s somewhat like a body makeup in the form of a bronzer. It will wash off in the shower and does not stain the skin. I found this product to be fabulous as well! Just like adding multiple layers of a self tanner, I was able to layer this to create an even deeper effect when needed. This product also smelled really nice and light and slightly like the beach!

Each of these products can be applied with the Self Tanning Lotion Applicator Mitt so you don’t have to worry about staining your hands. The Mousse formula makes application simple and fast, but with the mitt, the overall result is a smooth butter like feel and a 100% streak free tan in minutes.

Over, Beautisol makes it easy to get my tan on and give the illusion that I’ve spend hundreds in the tanning bed or countless hours in the sun when really, I’ve just taken a few minutes to use their easy, user-friendly products.

Beautisol was generous enough to not only send out these exciting products for me to review and tell you all about, but one lucky reader will also win all three of these products as well! Enter below for your chance to win!

Blogiversary Lesson #4: If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

Blogiversary Lesson #4: If it’s not broke, don’t fix it.

DSCN8629Tatcha skin care has really changed the way I look at skin care. While there are always “modern advances” in skin care and cosmetics, Tatcha uses century old Japanese skin care secrets such as Red Algae, Green Tea and Rice Bran and with a touch of modern science, extracts the most important parts of these natural elements to create skin care that is natural. When you think of Japanese beauty, you might think of a Geisha, with pale, soft skin. With Tatcha, you can achieve the same flawless complexion using some old tricks. Green Tea and Red Algae have with part of the Geisha’s skin care ritual forever so I say, if it’s not broken, leave it be!

DSCN8631One of the newest additions to Tatcha’s regimen is their Revitalizing Eye Cream. As a mom and a night owl, my sleep is precious but often hard to come by. I use many products to “fake awake” my skin and to mask the dark circles my lack  of sleep and sometimes high stress daily routine can give me. Eye cream is a must for me in my routine, but until recently I had been on the hunt for the right one. My search is over. This eye cream nourishes and purifies skin, resulting in a decreased appearance of puffiness, dark circles and eye spots. I feel like my skin under my eyes in always so tired that it ages my otherwise youthful looking face. With this eye cream, I’ve been able to turn back that clock and really cut down on the heavy concealers and highlighting products that were only creating the illusion of bright eyes. Now, my eyes really do look brighter and more well-rested.

It’s hard to call this my favorite product from Tatcha because I’ve yet to try a Tatcha skin care product that didn’t blow my mind, but this is my GO TO eye cream. It’s awesome to think that these secrets have been around forever! One lucky reader will with their own Tatcha Revitalizing Eye Cream! Enter below to win!

Starlooks Starbox April! (I think I’m in love!)

Starlooks Starbox April! (I think I’m in love!)

DSCN9349Confession time. I was not THRILLED with my box last month. I didn’t hate it. It’s really hard to hate a makeup that is SUCH high quality but I’m a bit of a “color shopper” as we’d call them browsing a retail shop in person in that I tend to get pulled in by pretty colors so in way, last month was a little flat for me. I received my 3rd Orange lippie from Starlooks (they’re wonderful products, I just didn’t need so many similar shades) and I’m not one for blue eye-anything. Was excited about the mascara, but I didn’t jump right in…Anyhow! That all being said, April is my Birthday Month and though my Birthday box is still on the way- I got my “regular box” and have to say “Happy Birthday Month to me!” I love it all! This is likely my favorite box thus far!

DSCN9351We received 4 full size items (though one of them counts as our ever interesting bonus item).

DSCN9352First was the Clear Lash Boost Base Mascara. This goes hand in hand with last month’s Mascara. The brush looks like it has tiny fibers on it and I’m REALLY excited to see what this does for me! I don’t own any lash primers or booster because my lashes are pretty long as is but this is a welcome addition to my kit! This isn’t on their site yet, but our card says it will retail for $15

DSCN9358Here is a look at the fibers on the brush. Fancy, Fancy!

DSCN9359

Next, we received Mineralized Powder. I’ve got oily skin and I live in Texas so I can fly through some powder! This one is large and includes a puff. I’m REALLY hoping I love this retails for $19 and that is a pretty good deal for this type of product! With the weather getting warmer, this is a must have! I got Translucent. Some also received Nude.

DSCN9372

DSCN9373

We also received a Tendergloss. I’ve got a few of these already and there were 3 different colors sent out randomly this month. I received African Sunset and this color is OH MY WORD! So beautiful. I’ll be wearing this so much and I just love it. It’s SO hard to decide what is my favorite this month! Love it all! These retail for $11

DSCN9366

Our bonus this month was a Mint lip balm. These are great to have one hand and I love mint so this is a sweet bonus! This is a $5 value.

Overall, this month’s box is stellar. For a $15 box I received $50 worth of product. Plus, these products are all great for anyone’s makeup kit. Especially if you’re trying to start a professional kit on a budget. I’ll have swatches and more information on these products, my bonus this month AND my Birthday box Sunday so stay tuned!

$25 Monthly Makeup Challenge- April

$25 Monthly Makeup Challenge- April

Simple 25 Monthly

It’s BACK! I had so much fun shopping for last month’s challenge that I jumped on the bandwagon early this month and have actually been enjoying these products since early this month. I’m glad because hopefully this month, I can tell you a bit more about these products than I did last month. Just a quick refresher, last month, I spent about $21 so this month I had $29 to spend :)

DSCN9170One thing I decided to do differently this month was take a gamble and add my Ipsy Glame Bag to my budget. This is something I order every month, but I decided to budget it here to show just how much I get for the $10 (free shipping, no tax) in terms of cosmetic items you can add to your kit! These are the 4 items I received this month. I liked them all, (you can read my full review HERE) but there were two makeup items that will be in my “Challenge Kit”.

DSCN9171

The first was a full size blush from Be A Bombshell Cosmetics in “Sweet Cheeks”. This retails for $16 but like I mentioned above, it was one of my products in my Ipsy bag. So far, I’m loving this cheek color. It’s not a crazy bright pink but it also doesn’t take too much to get a nice pink glow. I’d call this a really “safe” color if you’re someone who’s scared to go too crazy with pinks.

DSCN9178

Next (also from my Ipsy bag) is this Mineral Eyeshadow by Mic Beauty in the color Earth. This color is to die for! It’s a nice neutral with pink undertones an it’s got tons of sparkle! This retails for $14.95. I REALLY got an amazing value by choosing to subscribe to Ipsy. I got two other products and a makeup bag all shipped to me for only $10 so, I think that is a stellar value!

DSCN9326Next, I found two KILLER products in my Clearance section at Sephora. Now, I vowed that I wasn’t going to do clearance items but two weekends ago, I went to TWO Sephora stores and they both had literally HUNDREDS of these on clearance so I think it’s safe to say that these mark downs were/are widely available. I found MOST of these inside Sephora’s in JC Penny’s SO if you’ve got one near you- GO! Now! I snagged this lip gloss for only $10. Buxom Lip glosses are the BEST lipglosses on the market in my opinion. They plump just a bit, last a long time and come in several finishes and dozens of shades.

DSCN9328This is in the shades Jessica and it’s a nice sheer nude. These glosses have a doe foot applicator. These usually retail for $18 so getting this one for $10 was a serious steal!

DSCN9323Also from clearance, I picked up this Kat Von D Lipstick for only $8

DSCN9324This is in the shade Valentine. These are the “Foiled Love Lipsticks” from her line. On Sephora.com these lipsticks are still priced at $19 so again, check your Sephora inside JCP and just check! If you can get them this cheap, I’d grab a few! So worth it!

DSCN9325This is described as a “metallic hot pink with iridescent micro glitter” and it’s STUNNING! Kat Von D really knows lipsticks!

DSCN9330As a BONUS I got this Birthday Gift from Sephora. Now, I won’t go into detail on this because I’m not “technically” including this in my $25 Monthly Makeup Challenge because it’s not everyone’s birthday month, but this is just a quick reminder that you can get this in your Birthday month FREE at Sephora. You don’t have to make a purchase, you just need to sign up for their rewards card. (It’s exactly that just rewards, not a credit card or anything like that) You just walk up to the register and get your gift! Deluxe size samples like these are perfect because I’ll be trying these and seeing if I really like them enough to buy the big sizes! (so far, so good!)

This month, I went OVER budget by $.49 because of taxes on my Buxom lip Gloss and Kat Von D lipstick. I think that $.49 was TOTALLY worth the overage and I’ll just pull that change out of the bottom of my purse and call this one even ;)

Be sure and check out the AMAZING ladies below to see what they snagged for $25 this month!

Flawless Face by Mirenesse

Flawless Face by Mirenesse

If you’ve been a reader for a while you probably know I’m a HUGE Mirenesse fan! I’ve yet to try a product I didn’t love and that didn’t become a staple in my makeup kit. From lippies and concealer to eyeshadows  and powders, I’ve enjoyed it all! I recently got another amazing package from this Australia based company and I cannot wait to share it all with you! I wanted to start with the two products that have become my new foundation routine!

DSCN9244

I’ve been using this gem of a foundation for a few months now and I’ve gotten three other family members hooked on it as well! This is the Magic Touch Foundation with 3D Halo Spheres. I’m in the shade Vanilla (which is the lightest of the 5 shades available.) This foundation is light like you might expect from a BB cream but I think it evens skin tone and provides a bit more coverage.

DSCN9245

There is a unique “hands free” applicator on the end. You just give the tube a squeeze and you can dab and blend the cream foundation into your skin. This 1.4oz tube lasts me just over two months and I am happy to report that the sponge applicator does hold up through the entire tube. While this foundation is a bit on the more expensive end at $44, I couldn’t recommend it more AND it’s almost 50% bigger than other standard drug store foundations (which are only about 1oz) AND there is no need to buy an applicator!

The foundation leaves a bit of a dewy finish and since I’ve got a bit of an oily complexion, I always set

DSCN9237I had been adding whatever powder I had lying around but since my foundation was so light and looked like my skin- just better, the powder was adding more weight than I liked onto my skin. So when Mirenesse released their new Studio Magic BB Pore Powder, I was SO excited to get the chance to try it!

DSCN9238I had a little bit of spillage, but it looks worse in this picture than it really was! The powder is SO finely milled and comes with a cute little puff for application. Have you heard of those “HD” powders that blur lines and perfect your complexion? That is EXACTLY what this powder does. Even without a foundation it makes my skin look smooth and air brushed it just one simple stroke! It’s insane.

I can’t say enough about this powder. It takes just the tiniest bit to cover my entire face and it helps my foundation last 3-4 hours longer and keeps it in place against creasing or moving even in the Texas heat.

DSCN9240For quicker, even application I use the Kabuki Vanity Brush. This brush is SOOOO soft. I was shocked to learn that this brush was made with Taklon (a synthetic fiber).

DSCN9241This brush is super dense and picks up the perfect amount a powder. This brush is also the perfect size if I do choose to use it for a blusher or highlighter. It’s not too big or too small. I’m sure I’ll find even more uses for it as time goes on.

This trio of Mirenesse product make it easy for me to have a flawless face in just a few minutes. I add a little concealer from one other Mirenesse palette, but more on that later on! Be sure and check our Mirenesse online to find the perfect shade for you!

China Glaze Texture Collection Summer 2013 First Impressions!

China Glaze Texture Collection Summer 2013 First Impressions!

DSCN9201

I just received this exciting new collection in the mail and while I haven’t had a TON of time to play with them as far as wear time or how it holds up to a full day of toddler wrangling, I really wanted to share these stunning shades with you. Plus, let you in on what’s so unique about the new China Glaze Texture collection!

The Texture collection comes in 6 shades and is slated to hit shelves on May 1st this year. I’ve been eying several other brands that have come out with versions of a gritty polish, but always found the colors to be dark, too full of glitter or just not right for me. When I spotted these online and read about “a texture line that applies like a creme”. That statement instantly caught my attention. I’m a fan of creme finishes but I’ve been really interested to try these out! I have to say, I’m really glad I did!

The 6 shades in this collection are perfect for the Summer time and a great alternative to the overdone Neons (though I admit, I’m always excited for those too!)

Overall, these really do apply and dry like creme polishes. I got full coverage in just two coats and in spite of the intentional lumpiness, I was able to get clean, clear lines without any trouble. (it was easier than a glitter polish if you can imagine how that is to apply!) I loved all the shades and the texturized  finish is definitely funky and new. I highly recommend keeping an eye out for these next month! If you aren’t a texture person because past “effects” such as caviar or velvet nails fell flat for you, I wouldn’t write this one off. The texture is subtle and I only noticed it when I intentionally scratched an itch. My nails didn’t snag on fabrics or my hair or anything obnoxious like that. I’m really pleased with this collection and I hope you all check it out!

ARTISTRY Cosmetics Enchanted Garden Collection

ARTISTRY Cosmetics Enchanted Garden Collection

Have you ever had that moment when you’re browsing cosmetics and you think, “Oh, that looks “different” I’ll give it a shot.” ? Well, I was browsing through some Spring releases and reading on some brands I’d never had the opportunity to try when I stumbled upon ARTISTRY Cosmetics and I had that thought. The pictures in their press release were so pretty so I sent them an email and they replied back they they’d be happy to send me their Spring “Enchanted Garden” Collection.

DSCN9053

After about a week, I received these sleek black boxes in the mail. The Enchanted Garden Collection has 7 pieces but because there are some trios and a duo, there are actually 12 full size cosmetic items available. There are a lot of Spring “Garden Inspired” collections floating around, but I really saw something different in these colors and products so I tore into these and was not disappointed at all.

DSCN9055First, I opened the two Eyeliner Pencils from this collection.

DSCN9058There were two colors released, Bronzed Patina and Port Wine. The website describes these as creamy and high shimmer but I’d personally describe them a little differently.

DSCN9061These colors really glided on but not in an oily way like I’m used to. They dried to almost a matte or satin finish. I have to say I really prefer this texture, especially for lining on the lid. These colors are perfect for all year long and I love how well they go with the rest of this collection.

DSCN9060As far as the shimmer goes, it’s something I didn’t even notice until I smudged the color out. It’s fairly subtle for me, but it picked up the light to give you that “fake awake” look which is great for Spring! These beauties retail for $23.50 each.

DSCN9065Next, I reached for the Lip Gloss duo. These are sold only as a duo and you get both for $40.

DSCN9066

The two shades are Fresh Pink and Lilac Shimmer.

DSCN9067

Each gloss has a mess-free doe foot applicator (that is super soft and easy to use). These colors are so flattering on my skin tone and I think they’d be good for a wide range of skin tones. I have to tell you all, this Fresh Pink Gloss has been a staple in my purse since I got these products. These are smooth, creamy and just the right amount of sticky. I give these glosses a huge thumbs up. I’ll be repurchasing these when I run out.

DSCN9070Following the lip glosses, it was hard to declare another awesome product, but these Sheer Cheek Colors really wowed. I have to confess, I love blushes, but these baked blushes are just flawless. There is one thing I have to disagree with and that is the word “sheer”.

DSCN9073There are two shades available, Sequined Rose and Soft Peach. the packaging on these blushes is so sleek, modern and just beautiful. They come with velvet bags for storage making theme feel so luxurious.

DSCN9075These colors are STUNNING! If you can’t see in this picture, these are both baked (there are different shades all rolled into one blush) and the Sequined Rose shade on the left has gold in it.

DSCN9077This is where the word “sheer” goes crossed out! These are SO pigmented but also VERY, VERY forgiving. As much as I brush on the blush, it’s hard to overdo it.

DSCN9078One quick swipe and you can see the full glory of these colors. I just can’t in good faith call these sheer but I can recommend them highly! I’ve been bouncing between these two shades all week and I’m currently wearing Soft Peach! These retail for $28 each and are worth every penny!

DSCN9080Lastly, these are the Water Color Eyeshadows. These are sold in trios (for $60 each) and there are two sets available. The Pearl Trio and the Sparkle Trio.

So, real talk. When I first read about these, I was not so excited about these.

DSCN9081When they arrived, I saw how watery they looked and I was really hesitant to put them on my face. They literally looked like colored water in a bottle. They settle very easy but have a steel ball inside, so I gave them a shake and designed to swatch them on my hand…

DSCN9083and that is how we fell in love ;) These are just…wow. The most unexpected product of the entire collection for sure. These are so pigmented, creamy, blendable and look so amazing on my eyes! These swatches are just one swipe, but as they dry (after just a few seconds) you can add another layer to add to the intensity and to blend and build your eye look. I cannot stress how much I’m in love with these! It looks like I’m not the only one because the Pearl Trio is already on back order! I’d hurry and grab the Sparkle Trio while they are still available!

This collection was full of surprised and it was so hard to say which product was my favorite. I enjoyed them all and there was not a bad share or product in the bunch. They’ve all found a happy place in my collection and I use many of these daily now! Be sure and head over to their website and check out what else ARTISTRY has to offer and follow me on Instagram to see more swatches and full face looks! (AND for a special giveaway later this week! Hint, HINT!!)

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2013

Ipsy Glam Bag April 2013

DSCN9169 My glam bag came a little later than usual this month which was a little sad since it’s my Birthday Month, BUT I’ll live! For only $10 a month, I receive my Ipsy (formally MyGlam) bag and I’ve yet to be disappointed! I know so many of my friends, family and readers enjoy this monthly bag and for that fashionista on a budget, I CANNOT recommend Ipsy enough! There is no way you could get these products (or comparable products as far as quality) for $10 a month plus a cute makeup bag to boot! This month’s theme was Pretty In Pint, how perfect for Spring!

DSCN9170This month, I received 4 products, 3 of which were full size! Insane! For a “sample subscription” company, I as floored to see so many big products. With a lot of other “boxes” I see a lot of skin or hair care when really, what most people are after is color cosmetics. Ipsy really listens to their customers and I’ve never received a box without at least TWO MAKEUP items.

DSCN9171The first product I pulled out was a full size blush from Be a Bombshell Cosmetics in the color “Sweet Cheeks”. A few months ago we received an eyeliner that I’m still loving to this day so I was thrilled to see this brand again. This formula is super smooth and pigmented.

DSCN9172There is an amazing metallic quality to the color! I can’t stop staring out it and I will be rocking this really soon! This blush sells for $16 which is more than I paid for ALL the products I received! (Thank you Be a Bombshell for Partnering with Ipsy!!)

DSCN9175Next, I got a full size Sation Nail Lacquer.

DSCN9176This is in the color Love at First Byte. Described as a peach toned nude, I am worried it might be sheer, but it’s 3-free and retails for $5, so secretly, I’m hoping I love it!

DSCN9177Next, we received another repeat brand, Mica Beauty Cosmetics. I seriously don’t mind these repeated brands because I really enjoyed the first products I tried from these brands.

DSCN9178This is an eyeshadow in the color “Earth” it’s got pink undertones but is certainly a wearable pink. I originally received a different eyeshadow (by a different color) but swapped for this one. These retail for $14.95

DSCN9179Lastly, I received a deluxe size sample from Big Sexy Hair of their POW Powder Play. This powder is meant to add texture and volume so I’m pumped to give this a go. It should be interesting. Ulta sells the full size of this for just under $16 making this a sample value of $2.11

Overall, my bag had a retail value of $38.06 and there was not a single thing I won’t be trying out and probably loving! If you aren’t already receiving an Ipsy bag in the mail monthly for only $10, I highly recommend you sign up! It’s a great way to discover new brands and products!

Yves Rocher NEW Neroli Eau de Parfum

Yves Rocher NEW Neroli Eau de Parfum

DSCN8519

Since Spring is here, I’m doing what I always do, I’m stocking up on amazing new Spring fragrances because I secretly love to wear them almost all year long! When I got an amazing package from Yves Rocher that included their newest Spring fragrance release, I couldn’t wait to tell you all about it! Packages completely in white, this is their Neroli Eau de Parfum and it’s shower gel and body lotion counterparts!

DSCN8522Neroli is an oil derived from the flower or a bitter orange tree. The flowers themselves are beautifully white and add amazing contrast to the bright green and orange of the tree. To me, this perfume smells JUST like those beautiful white flowers. There is a hind of orange and a high note of another citrus, possibly lime. The scent is both alluring and fresh- perfect for spring. I’d call this an anytime scent for a women in her late twenties and into her thirties. It’s not quite as young and bright as some of the other Spring releases I’ve smelled recently, but it’s lovely in it’s own right. There is a slight musk, but it’s balanced by the orange notes.

DSCN8520More than the perfume, I really loved the shower gel in this scent. This fragrance made for an amazing body wash and the smell was light and lingered all day. The lotion went on smoothly and absorbed quickly. I felt the lotion had a touch more of the orange floral blossom scent to it which was really nice. It was a touch sweeter.

Overall, I thought this was a fun change from the traditional bright floral fragrances I’m seeing everywhere. I never thought I would find an orange blossom scent that I’d consider a great smell, but this is really well balanced and the neroli musk makes all the different.
