Hey Guys! I hope you’re having an awesome week! For 2017, I am stepping up my beauty subscription game. I’ve subscribed to some new boxes, dropped some that I wasn’t loving and stuck with a few tried and true. BoxyCharm is a brand new box for me and I’m thrilled to share my January box with you guys! If you aren’t familiar with BoxyCharm, this is a monthly subscription that costs $21 a month. While the price tag is double what most beauty boxes cost per month, BoxyCharm sends you 5 full size items with a retail value over $100 each month. As a beauty box fan, I see a lot of plus and minuses to getting all full size items and if you don’t love at least $21 worth of products in a box, $21 isn’t nothing. That being said, let’s dive in!
For anyone still waiting on their box who isn’t sure what’s inside theirs, my package weighed .7lbs 🙂
So, here is a little peak at what was inside! As you can see, 5 full size items. Everything was carefully packed, complete with bubble wrap and arrived safely.
The “big” item in this month’s box was this Vintage by Jessica Liebeskind Highlighter Double in the shades “Rose Quartz” and “Chocolate Diamond”
I found the formula of these to be incredibly creamy. There was no fallout with a finger swatch and even though I’m very pale, I think these will both look stunning on my skin tone. I read a few people who didn’t agree, so you be the judge. This retails for $35.
To go along with this highlighter duo, we also received a fan brush. There were two sent out this month. I received this one by So Susan which retails for $18.95. I thought this brush was on the thin side but I think I prefer that for highlighters. I will say that I didn’t think the highlighter we received worked very well with a fan brush at all. This didn’t pick up or put down any pigmentation, but I think that’s the formulation on the highlight. I’m more likely to use my fingers with that product.
I think the only thing out of this entire box that I’m unlikely to use is this Gorge* Amazing Konjac Sponge. I have a very long, complicated skin care routine and while I’ve received these in other boxes in the past, I never use them more than once. I use a sonic cleaning brush and this just doesn’t fit in. I think they work great, I just never find myself reaching for it. This retails for $18.
I saw this on the bottom corner on the package, but when you go to their site, it says it’s under new management and that it will be back shortly. I’m not able to look up any more information on this brand right now, which is a little odd if you ask me.
Next, was this Pur Minerals Mineral Glow Bronzer. I used this in the past and found it a little orange on me, but swatching this, I’m pretty sure I can make it work by using it just under my blush or along my hairline. This retails for $25 and I’m excited to get something from a brand I already know and enjoy.
Lastly, I received this Adesse Ultra Suede Matte Top Coat. This beauty retails for $18 and while I adore nail top coats and treatments, but something has to be really amazing for me to pay $18…
That being said, this is hands down, the best matte top coat I’ve ever tried. It’s smooth, looks amazing and is completely free of brush strokes or white spots. I’m super impressed. I also love that my matte nail doesn’t feel gritty or dry to the touch!
The value of my BoxyCharm box this month is $114.95 and I thought this was a great mix of products. Next month, I do hope for some lip and eye products which I think they do send out most months (this might have been a welcome break from those to older subscribers). Overall, I’m excited to see what’s next from this subscription.
