Birchbox April 2015

It’s true! I’m giving Birchbox another go. I couldn’t really say why I took a break from Birchbox other than I was spending a lot of money in their shop! With their point system, you earn $5 (or more) worth of points when you post reviews on the items you go in your box. You can redeem these points in $10 increments. Often, I use the $10 and spend another $20-30 on the order. Don’t get me wrong, this point system is amazing! I’ve just got a shopping problem! So, Birchbox is only $10 a month and for the price, you receive 5 beauty samples. Much like my beloved BB5 or Ipsy. The big difference? Often, Birchbox will send small samples, one-time use samples and packets. Womp Womp.

This month’s box is a partnership with the Rifle Paper Co. I adore this company’s esthetic! It’s absolutely gorgeous and I plan on ordering some of their pieces for my new office area. (Which I cannot wait to show you guys, by the way!!) The box we got is beautiful but I do wish we had gotten a cute bonus from the company. A card, a small note pad, something! I want it all. Haha.

Here is the card that tells you about everything inside. I tend you skip over the card. Am I the only one?

So, first on my list is the Cynthia Rowley Beauty Brightening Illuminator. This is a new exclusive to Birchbox. We received a small, .04oz sample in a squeeze tube.

The large size of this product comes in a “pen” that you click up to apply product. I admit, I really wish we had gotten a tiny version of the pen. Mostly because there is no control in getting this product out and I wasted quite a bit just swatching this. Full size is .11oz making this a sample value of $8.36. I’ve always thought Cynthia Rowley was fairly affordable so I was surprised at the price of this product.

Next, I received this eyeshadow trio by Pop Beauty. In the past, I’ve been less than thrilled with the quality of this brand so I admit, I was not that excited to see this in my box.

Then I swatched it and was actually pleasantly surprised! These are super creamy and pigmented! I’m not sure if Pop Beauty did some reformulating, but I’m impressed! I would absolutely invest in the full size palette. This is a sample value of about $6

I also received a few skin care pieces, which I’m always excited to try. This face & body balm by Temple Spa has a nice earthy smell. I’m not sure if this is meant to be a body lotion or a face moisturizer. It seems like this brand is trying to market it as both, which seems a little odd to me. This is a sample value of $3.66

I also received this little pod. This contains a face mask by Wei that contains actually bee venom. I honestly cannot tell you how excited I am to try this. This is said to help with wrinkles and fine lines as well as softening the skin. Sample value of $7.50

Last in my box is a product I already know and love. Whish shave cream! I haven’t tried the Blueberry scent but it smells awesome. I do have to say just one negative of this shave cream is that is can and will leave soap scum like stains on EVERYTHING in your tub if you don’t rinse it away when you’re showering. I have a butt bench in my shower that doesn’t get completely rinsed and it started looking crazy after my first full size tube of this stuff! So worth it though. Haha. This sample is worth $10

The overall sample value of this box was $35.52 All useful and nice items. Definitely happy with my choice to rejoin Birchbox! What did you get in your box this month?
