Hey Guys! It’s been a few days since you heard from me, but have you been keeping up with LanieBugsLikes? She’s doing a giveaway for Eco-Me Suzy Dish Soap along with her full review of this awesome “good for you” eco soap! Check it out! Entry is easy!
Recently, we got the chance to try a new cup. These are by Tommee Tippee and if it looks familiar, that is because these just because available at Target (this set of two sells for $8.99 on their website They claim to have created a “Truly Spill Proof Sippy Cup”, and my first thought to that was, “You haven’t met my truly wild toddlers” so we were excited (see Parker’s reaction below!) to get to try these cups.
We have actually been using this cups for a little while now, but here is a picture of our first day using them. I washed these cups the night before and let them dry. We filled them with milk for our breakfast of champions! Bananas- I’ve got a couple of fruit junkies on my hands!
As you can see, Parker was THRILLED. While Jack took a minute to observe his first “big boy cup” this is his first ever sippy cup without a protruding “spout” of any sort. So, they were happy, what did Mommy thing? I’m a happy camper when it comes to these cups too! For one day, every time Parker’s cup was laid on it’s side, it would leak. I took a minute to clean it, make sure I was screwing on the lid properly and tightly- and it hasn’t happened since.
These cups have a spill proof system that is completely alien to me. It’s unlike any other we’ve ever tried. We are familiar with several of the top brands: Gerber, Nuby, Playtex- to name a few. And none of them look anything like this. There are actually two layers here, one is hard plastic and the other is a soft silicone rubber. Beyond that, I can’t explain how it works, but it works and that is enough for me!
It’s super easy to take apart and toss in the dish washer to clean. I also love that these cups are insulated. We don’t always get out of the house, but when I know we’ll be out a while I like to be able to bring along milk and not have to worry too much about it going sour. Also, my youngest, is still teething, he’s been known to chew on some pretty odd things these days and his cups take most of the beating, in the week we’ve been using these, there is not a single visible bite mark on either cup. I’m happy about that!
After such a long time and so much money spent trying cup after cup, I’m glad to say we actually found one that doesn’t leak!
Like I mentioned in my first month’s review of Bulu Box, I discovered this great company called Pure Matters. I’m a bit addicted & am anticipating the arrival of my 4th order! But seeing as they are a mineral and supplement company, this addiction doesn’t seem to have any negative side effects.
Pure Matter is like I said, a mineral and supplement company but they only sell their brand of products. Their website, PureMatters.com is packed with products and information on anything you might want to add to your diet. They have things for men, women, and even children. Right now, Pure Matters is celebrating their anniversary & as a Thank You they are giving out an Anniversary tin with a $10 gift card in every order. With every order, you also receive free shipping.
I shopped a 40% off sale they still have going on to help you achieve the perfect “Beach Body” to access to sale, you go to www.purematters.com/beachbody
So, all orders are hand prepared, then signed and dates. They also take measures as a company to reduce their carbon foot print on the earth.
So, here is my order all opened up. They pack everything neatly and securely with all recyclable packaging.I ordered a bottle of Green Tea Extract, usually for $14.95 but I only paid $8.97. I got free shipping and two gifts! I received the $10 gift card and the cute bag contains 10 zip baggies to encourage you to take your vitamins even when you travel.
In addition, I signed up for their mailing list some time ago and almost every TUESDAY they offer a special where with ANY order, you get a preselected bottle of a supplement free with your order. With my first order I get a free bottle of Omega 3- 90 gel caps!
So, many moms received this awesome dish drying mat in the Influenster Mom Voxbox. I wasn’t one of those lucky moms and when I mentioned that I was SO jealous, someone was nice enough to get me one
And I’m so glad she did! This drying mat has become an invaluable part of my kitchen. I used to run a whole extra load just to wash pots, pans and other large kitchen items. Now, I don’t even think twice about hand washing things. This saves on our bills in the long run. I’m a lover of all things organized and when your dishes have a place to dry- you don’t feel like you’re creating more of a mess by trying to air dry them. On top of that, this mat actually absorbs FOUR TIMES it’s weight in water. It’s nice and padded so you can even dry your delicate and light weight glass pieces on it. It’s machine washable and won’t easily break down. And my all time favorite feature, you just fold it in thirds and stick it in a drawer or cabinet when you aren’t using it! I shared my picture on Facebook and they let me know their XL mat was only $2 more than their standard and available HERE at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Sounds like I’ll be stopping by my local store soon.
As you can see, the fabric is soft and plush. The outside is stitched tightly and even through washes, it never frays or got bent out of shape. I can say I’ll be using this product for a long time, I’ll probably even buy a second to have for large jobs and for backup.
Another neat thing I learned after poking around their website is that they took this technology and applied it to other uses around the house. They make a mat of your shoes (after living in Louisiana as a teen, I can say Amen to having the water quickly and neatly absorbed off of shoes before you enter a house!), a mat for your pets food and water dishes- I can’t believe I never heard of that before!! And even basic household cleaning towels- with no so basic absorbancy Oh & did I mention these things come in different colors?
I’m so happy with this gift (who though a cleaning item would make this woman so happy?) and I can’t wait to try other products from this line. You can see more on their whole line on their website.
Recently, I got to try imPRESS press on manicure through my Influenster Mom VoxBox. As you all probably know, I’m huge on painting my nails, and honestly, I never think to use press ons.
I decided to give these a try because I love this color and because, well, this product claims to have everything that I never got out of press-ons before. imPress uses advanced nail technology to give you salon perfect nails in seconds. All you do is peel off the tab and press them on. Tadaa! no drying time, amazing shine and they say they can last up to a week. I personally, couldn’t wear these nails. But- NOT for lack of trying. I have super narrow nail beds and no matter what I did, I couldn’t get them to fit my nails. I will be passing these along because they should be used. I will be looking out in the future for some that are less wide. I was excited to see that they carry 35 colors and patterns! Everything from neons, classic colors and spunky animal prints- wouldn’t they be fun to mix and match?!
Another great thing about these is that you can find them almost everywhere. CVS, Rite Aid, Duane Reade, KMart, Walgreens, Walmart, HEB and more. You can check out their website for a downloadable coupon $1 off of these already affordable press-ons. The solids sell for around $5.99 .
The soap of course! I’ve used Ivory soap hundreds of times throughout my life. So, when I got a bar in my Influenster Mom VoxBox, I was pretty excited
Do not let the simple white wrapper fool you- Ivory is not just a bath bar. You can use Ivory the standard way, to clean your body, but it’s even gentle enough for your face. Ivory can also be used as a stain remover or you can take a cheese grater to it and use it as laundry soap. (I’m not kidding!) And have you seen the amazing Pinterest DIY on how to make bath time finger paints out of a bar of Ivory soap?! Way too much fun!
I personally, used them to clean my huge cosmetic brush collection. Ivory left my brushes smelling amazing and left not film or residue on them, which is first of all gross but could interfere with the way my brushes work. None of that here, they are soft and applying makeup flawlessly just like before For results like this, Ivory could be charging above what their competitors do, but they don’t! Ounce for Ounce, Ivory is the cheapest bar soap among the leading brands Can’t beat that!
Recently, the boys were lucky enough to get to try these amazing cookies from my Influenster Mom VoxBox, you can find out more about that box and how you can qualify for future boxes HERE. And as promised, I wanted to touch base with a real review of the great products included in the box
The first thing we ripped into out of the box was out Quarker Soft Baked cookie. We got an Oatmeal cookie, it was loaded with raisins but after reading the label, I saw that it wasn’t chalked full of a added sugar like so many other cookie brands are.
My boys ate them pretty fast, but Jack was sweet enough to offer Mommy a bite, which I gladly took so I could tell you all how it taste. (excuse my child’s wild man hair, this is a post nap photo) I wanted to be able to sum it up in one word, but who could. It’s moist and gooey and delicious and filling. It was a great cookie- and I’m not an oatmeal & raisin cookie fan! Next time we have an occasion to purchase cookies, I will be repurchasing these for sure
A little more information from Quaker:
“Enjoy chewy, soft-baked cookies in a family-favorite flavor! With wholesome Quaker Oats and delicious raisins, you’ll never remember they came from our kitchen instead of yours.
-Made with Whole Grain Quaker Oats
-Provides a good source of fiber
-Contains 6 grams of total fat per serving”
You can find Quaker Soft Baked Oatmeal Cookies at most major retailers.
Suggested retail price: $2.69 for a box of 6 cookies. (these are pretty big cookies, so I think that is a steal!)
So, here it is guys! A run down of what brushes are to be included in Starlook’s brush set. I heard through the grapevine that this will most likely be available for purchase on their site the middle of August. No word yet on the price of the entire set (some of these brushes don’t appear to be available on Starlook.com just yet,
but I will link to the ones that are and include their price)
A little about Starlooks as far as their cosmetics and brushes; I first heard about Starlooks when they launched their Starbox, I was still getting my blog established so I started reviewing them just last month which was their third box, you can see this month’s box HERE and June’s box HERE. Their monthly boxes include 3-4 full sized cosmetic pieces from their collection for only $15 and $1.95 shipping. If you do decide to sign up, let them know you heard about it first from TheRosySnail
I loved their cosmetics but I received a brush in my June Starbox that blew my socks off- which leads us here- to a first look at this fabulous set
I don’t usually show pictures this large, but I wanted you all to be able to see the details in these brushes.
The 15 piece set comes in a vinyl case, or “roll” that neatly snaps shut with a magnetic snap closure. I forgot to get a picture of it all rolled up, but I’ll get one posted on Facebook & Twitter soon It has a white version of the Starlooks logo on the bottom right corner. The vinyl is super soft and has a faux leather feel to it.
I’m just going to start with the smaller brushes and work my way to the bigger ones. From right to left you have:
Fine Liner 829 which retails for $12
Lip 701 which retails for $14
Lux Brow Comb 846 which retails for $9
& Slanted Liner 824 which retails for $15
Skipping around just a little bit, these are going to be more of the eye brushes I would use for laying down color.
Delux Angel Shader 830 which retails for $15
Small Chisel 817 which retails for $15
Chisel Pointed Fluff 808 which retails for $15
Medium Dome fluff 802 which retails for $15
Medium Precision 812 which retails for $15
Small Precision 813 which retails for $15, this is actually the brush that was included in June’s Starbox so I included to show the size difference between the small and medium precision brushes.
Pointed Fluff 810 which retails for $15
Camouflage #8 (916) which retails for $15 (top)
Deluxe Shading 841- this one is not up for individual sale on their site, as of yet.
These last three bigger brushes are not posted on the site yet. No word on whether they will be exclusive to this set or if they will be available individually at a later date. One top is the Ace Powder 925, then Blush 903 & last Angle Blush & Shader 926.
So, I haven’t busted these out yet for a full face,(just played with a few) but now that I’ve photographed them and shared with you guys, I’ll be on that right away! I was really impressed with the brushes individually and as a group- there was a brush for everything & while I’ll be adding to my Starlook’s brush collection soon, this set along would be perfect for at home and professional shoot application.
Just like Starlook’s cosmetic line, these are cruelty free as well. I talked to Marci from the Starlooks team because like most people, when I hear that brushes are cruelty free, I expect synthetic brushes, not real hair. She got back to me right away with more information, “The animals that are providing the hair receive a nice, gentle, fresh shave, and all the hair is preserved and handled with care. Just the same as a person getting a haircut and donating to locks of love The animals are also not farmed and are treated with much love. In no way are the hairs ever yanked, or removed improperly. We take a lot of pride in providing this type of tool to customers.” She also told me on a separate occasion about how the hairs used for these brushes aren’t dyed, bleached or altered like so many of the other companies. So, you can expect no bleeding colors when you wash your brushes and they retain their original soft lusher- something I can vouch for first hand.
One of my favorite things about this brush collection as a while is that these brush handles are some of the longest in my collection, that makes them easy to find in my organizer and it gives me a lot of control during application. Aside from their longer than average handle, these brushes are super soft and because of that, I find that they help manage the amount of fall out I get from some of my more crumbly cosmetics.
I’ll be doing many follow-ups on this brush set and other brushes from Starlooks. If you’ve been thinking about investing in some quality brushes but weren’t sure where to start with all the big names being bounced around, I say, try just one Starlooks brush before you decide. I can’t say enough great things about these brushes.
If you’re like me and can hardly wait for the next Starbox, check out Alexandra Butler’s Signature Red Lip Set. She’s a fabulous makeup artist who recently partnered with Starlooks to put together a trio to help you achieve the perfect sultry red lip. The set is specially priced at $30 (shipping is free!) and it’s only available until August 15th.
Let them know TheRosySnail sent you
If you have any questions about these brushes, have a certain brush you would like me to compare any Starlooks brush too or want to see a tutorial featuring a brush that caught your interest- leave a comment!
So, July is almost over but I have a fun foodie box to share with you guys! Be prepared,
this one is NOT health conscious, just delicious
So, Love with Food is a monthly subscription service that costs $10 per month with $2 shipping, you can choose the year long subscription and get free shipping- saving you $24 a year. I actually signed up through a Plum District deal and got my first box for only $5. The deal isn’t active anymore, but I have a feeling it won’t be their last! As you can see, the flap is sticking up on my box, that isn’t my attempt to be “artsy”, the box is so full this month, that it won’t close!
So, the box shipped pretty late in the month but had a 4th of July/American eats theme. Better late than never.
So, first thing on the list is this Montebello Kitchens The Original Chipotle Ketchup. While some might argue this is not food (it’s technically a condiment) the Rigsby’s love anything we can dip, dunk and drizzle so this looks good. The only thing not so appealing is that it is made with Agave. Organic agave, yes, but sometimes agave can have more calories than regular sugar.
Next was Whale Tails Blue Tor”Chia” chips. These are Kosher and made with blue corn. My husband loves blue corn tortilla chips so, these look pretty tasty!
Then, we got to see an old favorite. These are my boys favorite treat and one of the few I don’t feel too guilty about giving them. Yummy Earth Organic lolly pops. The flavor of these is amazing and they come in many different varieties. I really enjoy these as an adult…think I’ll have one now
Another snack included was Sweet Corn Crunch Dried snack. It looks like the only ingredient here is corn. This makes me think of Corn Nuts, just without the preservatives. This is also a gluten free food.
Another “condiment” this month is by Sanders Candy co. and it is their Hot Chocolate topping.
This looks amazing. Period!
Next was a tea blend by Mighty Leaf. Out of the samples they have given out, this is certainly a better one as it makes a whole pitcher and not just one cup but, I personally, am sick of seeing Mighty Leaf.
And, in addition to what I said above- I’ve had this flavor before…twice. I wish 25% of this box wasn’t Mighty Leaf Tea :/
Lastly was Patriotic Poppers. I personally didn’t try any of these, but I heard through the grapevine that these were amazing!
This box was definitely worth $12 (including shipping) and worth more than the $7 I actually paid. If you are into snacks but not too worried about the healthy aspect of it, this may be the box for you I actually gave mine to my father in law as a special Birthday treat
So, if you noticed, I’ve been posting a little less these days but, not by choice! I’ve got a lot to share with you all the next few days, I’ve just been REALLY sick! It started with a runny nose and just went down hill from there! I spent a good two days curled up in bed while a few of my lovely family members took turns caring for the boys. You gotta love family!
But, my friend have been so sweet and looking after me too I’m feeling a great deal better today by my nose and throat still hurt a lot, so my sweet friend Brandi dropped by with some oils to help soothe! I’ve been taking the standard medications for sinus, allergies and headaches and even when those work- they make me feel jittery!
So, she brought me
Lavender Oil-a remedy for aching muscles, acne, bugs & bacteria, burns, cuts & wounds, earache, eczema, fatigue, fevers, giddy spells, pulpitations, headache, insomnia, long haul travel, menstrual cramps, moths & mosquitoes, sandflies, scabies, shingles, sinusitis, stress & anxiety and sunburn. (AKA- everything!)
Eucalyptus Oil- can help with anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, decongestant, deodorant, antiseptic, antibacterial, stimulating, and other medicinal properties
And Peppermint Oil- which can treat indigestion, respiratory problems, headache, nausea, fever, stomach and bowel spasms and pain
Brandi is my go-to girl when it comes to natural and good for you information. She recently started a new blog where so far she has featured adorable pictures of her rug rats and a Paleo Cookie recipe that is to die for! Check out “One The Bright Side” for a good read
